House Update...
1:21 PMSo our house has officially been on the market for one month. We have had 2 offers, numerous lookers, and maybe... just maybe... could be under contract by tomorrow.
Our latest offer was EXTREMELY LOW. Nine percent below asking price to be exact. We had a feeling we were being tested, because we could tell by the paperwork these buyers could more than afford our home. We countered their offer, barely coming down from our asking price. They countered our counter (a little confusing I know) and we countered their counter. We have brought them over to our side, and rumor is they are planning to accept tomorrow. (They had a question for the bank, and banks are closed today). So we went from an offer $8500 below asking to possibly settling on an offer at $1500 below asking price. THAT FEELS AWESOME!!! I'm so glad we didn't concede! Nothing is final, and we know it could still fall apart, but this is as close as we've come to a deal and it's pretty exciting.
The kicker in this whole thing: Closing date of March 19th. The buyers are also having a baby, and said if we couldn't close then it was a deal breaker -- EFF!!!
So this is definitely a bittersweet deal -- we know it will only workout if it's supposed to. We have some great houses picked out to go look at should everything go through, and hopefully we will not end up homeless with a newborn. We know we won't be given more than we can handle, and we have a great support system around us! We'll let you know how it goes!
