Happy Groundhog Day!

9:39 AM

It looks like we're in store for 6 more weeks of winter -- Oh Happy Day... Does that groundhog ever NOT see his shadow!?!

In other news...

Dave left for Dallas this morning to meet with some oil producers. Since his company decided not to charter the jet for this trip, we got to drop him off at the airport very early this morning. When I say early, let's keep things relative... 8 o' clock is EARLY for us! I work nights, and usually one (or more) of the kids are still awake when I get home. We sleep until 9-10ish, eat breakfast, and have no real morning routine besides that. This morning the kids and I got to experience a taste of what our lives will be like in a few short months when Ady starts school... let's just say we're going to have to make some BIG changes.

Metro is a good 30 miles (35 minute drive) from our house with NO traffic... that is really going to be a life-changer. What does this mean for us? For starters, early bedtimes for EVERYONE. Dave is accustomed to only getting 5-6 hours of sleep, but that is not at all sufficient for me or the kids. I'm also going to have to work on my time management skills. I pretty much go where I want and do what I want all day long... I don't want to have to have Ady answer for MY poor planning. We are going to have to workout some kind of morning routine... this is going to good for all of us, but especially the boys (it's not even 10, and Cade is taking a nap). I think Dave enjoyed us all being up together this morning -- who likes being up alone in a cold dark house anyway?

Well, that was my revelation for today... I'm sure it won't be the first as I will be a "single mom" all week while Dave travels through oil country meeting with more producers. I'm just going to take it one day at a time.
