Hunter is here!
3:32 PMWell... HE'S HERE!!! Hunter Wade Hodges was born March 10, 2010 at 2:34 PM. He was 7 lbs. 8 oz. and 20 inches long. His delivery was the easiest (I cheated and had a epidural this time) and I know I'm a little biased, but I think he's just PERFECT :)
He a great eater, sleeper, snuggler, and I really could just eat him up! We are getting to know each other more everyday. Today he is 6 days old, and I just want to press pause. Can he please NOT be 1 week old tomorrow -- this is just going too fast! He has a very mellow disposition. He knows night time is for sleeping. He can sleep through a freight train (thanks to the big kids), and he loves his soothie pacifier. He's still not great at managing his own body temp., so we have been swaddling and using his green "giggie." My other 2 would not have tolerated that!
Yesterday was his 1st check up, and although the morning started out rough (he was vomiting blood -- no worries, it was just mine) the pediatrician relieved all my fears. His weight, jaundice levels, and everything else are all normal -- WHEW! What a huge relief! He is supposed to go back again on Friday or Monday for a weight check -- we'll see about that...
Yesterday afternoon we took his newborn pictures. I didn't have these done with my other two, so it was more of a treat for me than him. We used Brenda Horan (www.brendahoran.com) and man, did she do an awesome job!?! She's a true perfectionist, and it paid off. She got some AMAZING shots of all 3 kids. I asked for her to release a couple for me to show off, and I'm awaiting her reply.
Today was our first day without Dave -- it's been smooth sailing so far, and we have less than an hour to go. Cade woke up crying at 6:30 AM, which was a little bit expected since he went to bed at 5 PM last night. We went in to get him, and he had removed his POOPY diaper! What a way to start the day! We got him washed up, and both boys went back to sleep in my bed for 3 hours. I couldn't have been a happier mommy to have 2 sleeping boys next to me (Cade was holding Hunter's hand too). So far, 3 is not much more difficult than 2. I think that will change as he begins to stay awake more. I still able to sleep well at night, and get a lot done during the day. Hopefully it lasts!
So thanks to all of you who visited, called, emailed, and prayed for our family over the past few months. We are ALL happy, healthy, and doing well. For now, our family is whole and complete, and I can't imagine life differently.
