32 Weeks and Counting
9:11 AMI'm officially making Friday "Baby Update Day" since it marks the beginning of a new week for us. Last Wednesday (the 27th) we paid a visit to my wonderful doctor, Dr. Christy. She also delivered Cade, and comes highly recommended among those of us who are insane enough to conquer natural birth. Here's how my visits have gone for the past 8 months:
Dr. Christy: "So what kind of questions do you have for me?"
Me: "None."
Dr. Christy: "Do you want an ultrasound?"
Me: "Sure."
She does her thing and I'm out of there in about 10 minutes.
So here is what went down on Wednesday:
(As if loading up the other two babies and getting them ANYWHERE on time isn't a huge victory in itself) I unload the children in the parking lot and begin walking inside in a cold rain/sleet mixture when Ady "bites it." No this wasn't a little trip and fall, this was a head first thud into the asphalt. Holding Cade in my other hand and car approaching, there is no time for consoling. I jerk her up and we rush inside tears and all. This is when Cade begins to lose it, because those of us that have two little ones know that when one is upset, the other isn't far behind. SO anyway, everyone was okay (except for a half dollar sized strawberry on her forehead), I make it upstairs (Cade tripping on the carpet every other step), to be rushed back and have my blood pressure taken... IS IT ANY SURPRISE THAT IT WAS HIGH!?!
Besides that, the appointment was business as usual. Hunter weighed 3 lbs. 15 oz. and is healthy as a horse. He was sucking his thumb and his eyes were blinking during the ultrasound (which I was going to post, but his older sister accidentally misplaced). I had gained a SIGNIFICANT amount of weight in the past 2 weeks, but I'm hoping that was attributed to my later appointment time and my knee high riding boots I was wearing. I'm estimating we have about 5 weeks to go. I just don't think he'll make it much longer than that. I have to work with him daily to get him to stay put, and so far so good.
I still have a HUGE list of stuff to get done. I never imagined we would be bringing him home to THIS house, but as each day goes by, that's the reality of it. So here's a list of what i still have to do:
- Take inventory of what I saved from Cade
- Purchase a lot of newborn - 3 months clothing/supplies (Cade had severe reflux so most of his stuff I didn't keep because of the stains)
- Wash everything
- Buy a new swing (ours was a hand-me-down with Ady and it's on his last leg)
- Stock up on diapers/wipes
- Buy some cute hospital clothes for me
- Buy layette for him
- Pre-arrange for my epidural (better to be safe than sorry!)
- Apply for maternity leave at Starbucks
- Rearrange our bedroom furniture so we can fit the Pack n Play in there
- Meal planning for the first couple weeks after his arrival
- Finish a couple of little projects that I won't have time for after he gets here (2009 photo albums, a portrait session for the older kids, etc.)

Whoa mama! I plan to have 2... One for each arm, after that you are down right out numbered! LOL. You are a TROOPER born and bred for this. Very admirable!
ReplyDeleteI love my doctor as well. He is just an MD but he specializes in maternity and family care. So he is still her dr, and mine. It's very convinent. Where is Dr. Christy?
Where are you delivering?
What else are you needing, I know you probably have most of it, but I have several of some things. ( Like bouncers, the jump-aroo etc) Id be willing to let you use. Lord knows they aren't in them long. I'd loan you my swing but I need it for my friends baby that I will be watching a few days a week. :-)
Hey Allie! I have a small swing that you are welcome to use. Conner hardly used it at all! He grew too long for it very quickly! Just let me know, and maybe Conner and I can run it out to you!
