Late Summer Wrap Up

11:51 AM

What a fantastic start to school we've had. We are loving VCS, and CR and Holden are loving our time together at home. Our whole family dynamic and schedule is different this year, and it has made our home more peaceful to have a routine, however insane it may be. Not to paint an unrealistically rosy picture, because these shots below obviously showcase the highlights, because still have our daily #struggles. Pastor Craig would be thrilled if I actually knew how to link that hash tag to his message.

Hunter is having a really hard time getting out of bed on school days. In fact its 10:15, and we haven't heard a peep. Cade is having a really difficult time with self-control. We started new Bible curriculum to address that. Holden is a "runner". You moms that have a runner know exactly what I'm talking about. Ady is struggling in soccer and has a small dose of forgetfulness that goes along with more expectation of academic accountability. Dave and I live in a state of organized chaos, and just when we think we've got it all figured out, we are humbled by a curve ball.

Today is a new, beautiful Fall day, and I am so grateful for the VCS teachers' day of team building and a day off of school for us. We are all healthy, and get to spend the weekend together doing things we love. We are renewed by His grace, and appreciative of everything that is going right. Here are some highlights of our last couple months:

We have a SIX year old now! Cade celebrated with his friends at a Laser Tag party.

Speaking of parties... this guy threw me the most fantastic surprise party for my 29th at the Dust Bowl!!!

First day of school picture.

Cade hard at work on a resist art project. Art is our happy place on days when we can't seem to get through much. So many lessons can be taught through art!!!

First day of MTSC Fall soccer.
Ady: Turf Angel
Cade: TSCH '09 Red Dragons
Hunt: Ninja
Holden: Patient Spectator (not pictured)

We decided to spruce up our super tiny living room in effort to wow potential buyers. For less than $100, we made it into a brighter, cozier space. We rearranged the furniture, floated the couch, painted, added a few accessories and a rug to complete the space.

School Picture Day at VCS

We couldn't leave out the homeschoolers.

 I love his chubby fingers.

My little riders before a lesson. So fun to watch them progress together with such different strengths. Ady has great balance and a poised and graceful riding style. Cade is a fearless maniac and can maneuver a horse really well.

Our first visit to the fair since Ady was 3. It was a huge hit!
When mom says, "Give me a funny picture!"

The Tulsa State Fair: They never stopped smiling.

Riding his motorcycle with bro and sis ride bigger rides.
